Change Management

“There is nothing more difficult to take in hand, more perilous to conduct, or more uncertain in its success, than to take the lead in the introduction of a new order of things.”
- Niccolo Machiavelli, The Prince (1532)
"The rate of change is not going to slow down anytime soon. If anything, competition in most industries will probably speed up even more in the next few decades.”
- John P. Kotter

Change is all around us…bigger, faster, more frequent, never ending.  Perhaps the only constant is that “things will change.”  All of us are caught up in this fast-paced, change bubble.  How do we handle the change that impacts us?  How do we lead change initiatives when we ourselves aren’t certain of the outcomes?

Recent research points out that 70% of all change initiatives fail.  An Oxford study on change showed that over 68% of employees welcomed meaningful involvement in change.  What’s the disconnect?

We believe that part of the answer lies in creating a clear picture of the change vision, as well as involving as many people as possible in creating the change initiative.  Leadership must develop opportunities for giving and hearing voice, and for creating ownership in the change.  When such involvement emerges the ravages of fear are lessened and the chances of success increased.
